Teacher Education's Description

The Teacher Education Division represents those members of AECT whose interest is in the promotion of theory, research, and practice in support of the development of knowledge, skills, and dispositions of educators who create effective learning environments for diverse learners through the integration of technology.   Within the broad conference theme Integrative Approaches: Meeting Challenges we welcome proposals that fit one of the following format categories:

Research in Teacher Education: Accepted proposals will present findings from original research studies related to the use of technology in teacher education programs, K-12 schools or professional development settings. Proposals in this category must be completed research studies at the time of proposal submission, and the proposal must be a completed research paper (up to 10 pages in length not including references and tables). If accepted, the authors will be encouraged to submit their papers to the Conference Proceedings.

Best Practices: Presentations in this category will provide information related to effective instructional practices that have been used in teacher education programs or professional development settings.
Technological Innovations: Presentations in this category will include information about cutting-edge technologies as it relates to teacher education programs, K-12 schools or professional development settings. Cutting-edge technologies include but are not limited to Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge, Gaming, Web 2.0 tools, social networking software, podcasts, blogs, and wikis.

TED wants to encourage multi-disciplinary presentations, both from within AECT and from external contributors.  Collaboration with others either in the format, as listed above, or in the content sub-themes, listed below is welcome. The content will be organized around the six sub-themes of this year?s presentations. The sub-themes are:
  
1.       Social Networking for Teaching and Learning
2.       Distributed Learning Systems: Globalizing Education
3.       Innovations in Open Educational Resources
4.       The Continuing Evolution of Distance Education
5.       Assessing and Evaluating Educational Technology Applications
6.       Issues in Cyberlearning Design and Development
