CALL FOR PAPERS - Deadline Sept. 1st, 2009
'The Evolution From Distance Education to Distributed Learning'
Summer Research Symposium Bloomington, Indiana - July 19 - 23, 2010
2009 AECT International Convention
October 27-31, 2009
Galt House Hotel and Suites Louisville, Kentucky
Integrative Approaches: Meeting Challenges
SUPER EARLY-BIRD REGISTRATION!
The super early-bird convention registration is now available. Members and Nonmembers, register before and you can save $60.00 from the regular registration.
This year’s convention will be held at the Galt House in downtown Louisville right on the Ohio river. The theme of the convention is “Integrative Approaches: Meeting Challenges.” The notion of integrative approaches is interpreted broadly to include (a) integration of technologies into teaching, learning and performance, (b) trans-disciplinary research and development, (c) multi-cultural and multi-institutional applications, and (d) projects that cut across disciplines and involve people from different academic and practical backgrounds. The three keynote speakers exemplify this theme as each one has a multi-disciplinary background and represents different sectors – Daphne Rainey (NSF – computer science and education), Peter Goodyear (University of Sydney – collaborative learning and educational research), and Andrei Podolskij (Moscow State University – developmental psychology and instructional design). Several presidential panels and sessions have already been identified including a panel of researchers and teachers addressing comprehensive school reform in rural K-8 schools and an invited session featuring Cloudworks, a social computing application developed at the Open University of the UK. Louisville is centrally located and within driving distance for many members; there is also an airport in Louisville with inexpensive transportation to the hotel. The hotel is completely renovated and has two towers, one of which is an all-suites tower. The room rates are less expensive than those at the 2008 meeting, and they include free Internet access in all rooms.
