Training & Performance
Member at Large (2 positions)

Denise Tolbert
National University, Costa Mesa, California

I received my Ph.D. from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley in 2001 in the area of Instructional Design. I’ve been an Assistant Professor at National University in Costa Mesa, California since 2002. For the past 20 years I have been involved primarily in the area of adult education in varying settings including government, community-based organizations, corporations and for-profit higher education organizations. I like to teach adults because I enjoy the varying backgrounds and experiences they bring to the educational setting. I also spent several years teaching at an alternative High School for at-risk youth. That was a challenging but very rewarding assignment. I currently volunteer with a group of at-risk students as they build virtual businesses. I am currently involved in planning a conference examining the best ways to disseminate information to the African American community about health issues and access to care. I am a current member of the Training & Development division and a member of the ECT Foundation Board. I am a Past President of MIM (Minorities in Media).
