Camille Dickson-Deane
University of Missouri

Camille Dickson-Deane has experience in three different countries in the fields of Banking, Legal Publishing, Web Technologies, Education, Project Management and Learning Technologies. She has her BSc. Computer Science from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad, MSc Software Development and Management from Rochester Institute of Technology, NY, USA and at present is a PhD student in the School of Information Science & Learning Technologies at the University of Missouri.  She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with more than a decade experience in the field and has held a variety of job titles including Software Test Engineer, Quality Assurance Analyst, Project/Account manager and Senior Lecturer.

After completing her government sponsored Masters degree, she worked first in Barbados and then returned to her native country of Trinidad and Tobago.  In Barbados, she worked for one of the country’s first Internet start-ups then, in Trinidad and Tobago, became faculty, in the country’s first Community College, teaching in the Information Technology and Business Management Departments.  It was at this institution that she created and delivered courses in the Information Technology, Systems Design, Project Management, Web design, Quality Assurance and Strategic Management; during this time she introduced web-assisted course delivery to the department and thus the institution.  Whilst working at the college, she also worked as a project management consultant and part-time lecturer/professional development facilitator for four of the top tertiary-leveled degree granting institutions in the country.  Her work is not restricted to designing and delivering, it also encompasses evaluation and the re-engineering of courses based on the changing needs of organizations/institutions.  At present her interests includes the evaluation and cultural impact of e-learning, and professional development using e-learning models.  These interests have led her to investigate e-learning by exploring ways to improve its use and delivery to diverse populations.
