Stefanie Buck
Instructional Design/Social Sciences Librarian Valley Library

I am the instruction design/social sciences librarian at Oregon State University.  Before I came to OSU,  I was the distance learning librarian at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA where I taught a 1 credit library research skills course online.  I also worked for the Gates Foundation for two years as a Public Access Computer. All of these experiences led me to pursue a MA degree in Instructional Design from the University of Massachusetts in Boston. I will be completing my capstone or culminating project this spring which will be an extensive library needs assessment of distance learning students and faculty at the request of the University Librarian. As the instructional design librarian, I work with the library faculty to design tutorials and improve library instruction and to help individuals integrate technology into their instruction.  I also have an MLS (Master of Library Science) and a MA in History from the University of Hawai'i. This past AECT was the first time attended the conference and I found it very rewarding. I joined the Training and Performance division because I assist my colleagues in training and in developing assessment tools and I also wanted to become an active and contributing member of the association. I know that I can learn a great deal from other members of this division.
